Windows Vista and Windows XP, has this Amazing option available which you can connect to a PC remotely, I am writing this HUB just as an answer to one of questions,

There are only 2 requirements for successfully getting connected remotely to a PC

1.       Broadband Internet connection at home and at office.

2.       Windows XP or higher windows Operating system.

Now all you need to do is just follow these instructions,

Windows Vista

Step 1: Acquiring IP Address of Your Computer (Home/Work) Specifically the PC you want to connect.

1.       Click Start -> Click Start Search -> Type Command -> Press Enter

2.       In the Black Screen with a blinking cursor, just type in "ipconfig" -> Press Enter

3.       In the list of data that appears, make a note of "ipv4 address" (Eg: 152.1.63.4)

Step 2: Enabling Remote Desktop Connection on Your Computer (Home/Work)

1.       Click Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings (on the left side) -> Remote (tab)

2.       Select Option "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer"

3.       Select the third options under the "Remote Desktop" options which says  ->  " Allow connection only from computers running any versions of Remote Desktop (less secure) "

4.       Click on select users "Add the User Name specific to your Login Credentials of your computer you want to access"

The last step is an important step; you might have to try couple of times to get the right user credentials in there to get access.

Also in Windows XP it is almost the same options which you have to select.

1.       Click Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Remote (tab)

Once you do these steps, you will have your computer enabled for Remote connection

Step 3: Steps to take Remote connection:

This should a Piece of Cake

On your computer from which you want to take connection do the following steps [Eg, from Home to Office or vice versa]

>

Windows Vista (+ XP)

1.       click start -> click start search (In XP - Click "Run") -> Type the following command "mstsc"

2.       Type in the IP Address which you acquired doing step1.

3.       This will take you to a Login Screen of the computer you want to connect to,

4.       Just type in your user name and password, (if it is asking for a Domain, try and select the right one) Press Enter

That’s all!!!!  Jobs Done!! Hope This Helps!!
